Built in 1883, the Inn has catered to some of the most influential and famous people of the past century and of current times. The Isleview Motel and Cottages is conveniently located less than one mile from Mount Desert Island half way between the towns of Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. We are also within easy reach of Acadia National Park and all it has to offer. We are family owned and operated and we do our very best to accommodate all of our customers needs at all times. We offer a variety of well maintained accommodations including simple motel rooms with one, two or three double beds along with unique cottages that sleep two to six comfortably. Room facilities include private bathrooms, individually controlled heat, ceiling fan, color cable TV, telephone and coffee machine. Some rooms also contain a refrigerator, microwave, and air conditioning. Our largest cottage has a full kitchen and livingroom along with a full bath and two bedrooms. We allow pets in our cottages only, for a small fee. New to 2007 all rooms have wireless internet. Reservations require one nights deposit or a valid credit card number to hold a room. To cancel your reservation without a charge we must hear from you 7 days before your arrival date. We are a small establishment and cannot accommodate last minute cancellations.

The Open Hearth Inn has many different lodging options. We have three Bed and Breakfast suites in a 200-year-old New England Cape. All B and B suites have a living room, bedroom, and full bathroom with tasteful antique appointments and include a gourmet breakfast in the Inn's original kitchen with huge open hearth fireplace. The motel rooms are very spacious with two double-size beds, all with microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot; they all have a futon couch, that can be made up to accomodate a large family. The seasonal cottages are very quaint and cozy, with old fashioned knotty pine board paneling and antique appointments. The cottages are primarily double occupancy, with queen-size beds, or two double beds. Larger groups or familes may have to use two cottages. The two efficiency apartments have full kitchens and are one-bedroom, fully furnished with full baths. One apartment has a fireplace. The apartments are in high demand, and are often booked well in advance for the full season. We have a large Garden Room with six-person jacuzzi tub for our guests, that is very popular after a long day of hiking, biking, sailing, kayaking, etc on the Maine coast. There is an Antique shop on premises. A large, fancy and realistic golf putting green is available for our guests (kick the owner off if he's always there), and kayak tours and instruction are available daily for seeing the beautiful coast of Maine at sea level.
